Dee Finkel – Screaming Banshee – Tan

The Screaming Banshee is a hair-wing Caddis dry fly pattern originally designed by Charlie Craven, tied here by Dee Finkel in a tan/blonde colorway for improved angler visibility on the water. Constructed almost entirely from hair, the fly achieves natural buoyancy while still riding low with its rear breaking the surface film – mimicking the skittering behavior of an egg-laying caddis. A forward-facing wing paired with a downward hook eye lets the fly move effortlessly across the surface, and the elk hair shellback opens up with each fish strike, adding to its lifelike, disheveled profile over time. Flashback elements are incorporated at the wing tie-in point, which has been reinforced with head cement for added durability.
